# Commitments

> Publish awarded lanes as commitments so you can track active rates outside the bid, and link each one back to where it came from.

## Summary

When you win awards on a bid, there is now one more step: **publish** your awards to Commitments. Publishing saves your awarded lanes as their own set of data — separate from the bid — so you can track them going forward.

Once published, your commitments become an easy-to-view list of every active rate you've committed to, viewable outside your TMS, with each one linking directly back to the bid it came from.

## When to use this

### Backfilling past wins

Publishing works retroactively. Go back to bids you've won in the last few months and publish those awards so your Commitments list is complete. This keeps you from getting behind — no more "we got this award and it isn't listed anywhere."

## After you publish

### Automatic expiration on rebids

If you win the same lane again at a future date — whether you increase or decrease the rate, or increase or decrease your commitment — the prior commitment is automatically expired and the new one takes over.

### Editing after publishing

Once a commitment is published, edits to it happen in Commitments — not by re-editing the bid.

## Why this matters

**Primary value:** Publish and save your awards to a separate list that is easy to view and check against your volumes.

**Secondary value:** You have a set list of all your active rates viewable outside your TMS. Any sales, operations, or pricing person can answer two questions fast:

* *What's our rate or commitment on this lane?*
* *Where did it come from?* — Every commitment links directly back to the source bid, including the strategy notes and reviewer from when the lane was originally priced.

## What to watch for

* **You can't view your orders against commitments yet.** This release saves and tracks commitments only. Order matching — seeing what you actually hauled against each commitment — is coming soon.
* **Publish as you win.** The list is only as useful as it is complete. Publish awards when bids close so your commitments stay current.
