# Add a New Bid

> How to create a new bid record in BidRight

Create a bid record in BidRight before you import any lane data — the record is the container that holds everything related to a single customer bid.

**1. Navigate to the Bids section**

Open BidRight and click **Bids** in the main navigation.

**2. Start a new bid**

Click **New Bid** (or **Add Bid**) in the top-right corner of the Bids list.

**3. Fill in the bid details**

Enter the **bid name** and the **customer or account name**. Then set the **bid deadline date** so BidRight can surface this bid in deadline-based views.

**4. Assign team members (optional)**

Add team members from Sales, Operations, and Pricing who will work on this bid. You can skip this step now and assign people later.

**5. Save the bid**

Click **Save**. BidRight creates the bid record and takes you to the import screen, where you can upload the customer's file.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Assign team members as early as possible. Everyone listed on the bid gets access before the deadline, which prevents last-minute permission requests when time is tight.

Now that your bid record exists, upload the customer's spreadsheet: [Import a Bid File](https://help.bidright.com/importing/import-bid-file.md).
