How to read Operating Ratio

Operating Ratio (O/R) tells you whether a lane is profitable at the current rate.
  • O/R < 1.0 — the lane is profitable at the current rate
  • O/R > 1.0 — the lane is operating at a loss at the current rate
Use O/R to quickly identify lanes where the current rate doesn’t cover costs, and adjust your pricing accordingly.
Historical data shows trends over time. Use it to spot lanes with rising volumes or changing rate patterns — both signals that a lane may warrant closer attention during pricing review.
